Is it possible to upgrade Windows Vista Enterpsie to Windows 7 using the HP upgrade program?

Hello everyone,

I want to upgrade from Windows Vista Enterprise to Windows 7. I read about the possibility to upgrade to Windows 7 for a small administrative fee by the HP upgrade program. The website however mentions that I can only upgrade from Vista Home Premium, Bussiness or Ultimate. My HP laptop (the EliteBook 8530w) had Windows Vista Enterprise installed on it. So I want to know if it is possible for me to upgrade to Windows 7 using the HP upgrade program.

I bought this laptop from my university. They had a program, so we could buy our laptop with many applications we need for our study pre-installed. It could be that they replaced the Vista version that HP installed with Windows Vista Enterprise. If that is the case, is it possible for me to somehow re-install the previous Vista version, so I can still take part in the upgrade program?

I believe the HP upgrade program only offer upgrade to the vista os come with the computer you bought. I don't think hp ships vista enterprise, did you install Vista Enterprise yourself?

[ Edited ]

I bought my laptop from my university. They installed all the software and it could be that they also installed Windows Vista Enterprise. When I looked at the overview page of the Elitebook 8530w, it mentioned Windiows Vista Ultimate as OS. So I am clueless why my university is using Windows Vista Enterprise.I have decided that I will contact HP support about this, to see if I can install Vista Ultimate and then upgrade to Windows 7.

UPDATE: I just contacted HP support by phone. The Elitebook 8530w comes with Vista Bussiness installed, and they will send me an installation disc within 14 days. They also metioned it might be possible to do a clean install with the upgrade cd, although they didn't know for certain. I think I will try the clean install first, and if that doesn work, I will install Windows Vista Bussiness and then do the upgrade.

Anyway, I wish to thank everbody for the help they provided.
