Is there any way to disable Privacy Manager for just Outlook?

Is there any way  to disable Privacy Manager for just Outlook?  I'm using a new HP Laptop 8560w running Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.  I like the other features of Privacy Manager, but don't like or need to use the Trusted Contacts.  It simply adds one more step when sending emails (I need to shift the list of contacts from Trusted Contacts to all of my contacts, if that makes any sense).

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It may be due to HP Protect..See if this helps..

Go to HP ProtectTools Security Manager -> Administration->Administrative Console->Settings-> Applications and there disable the Privacy Manager by unchecking Privacy Manager and then click apply.

You can also refer this guide below to individually configure applications with HP protecttools

Re: Is there any way to disable Privacy Manager for just Outlook?

Thanks for the response, but that doesn't seem to work.  When I start a new email and search for names, Outlook still defaults to "Trusted Contacts", of which I have none and plan on having none.  I'd like for Outlook to default simply to my Outlook contacts.

Any additional suggestions?

Oh, and by the way, the guide provides no assistance for disabling Protect Tools for Outlook. It simply provides guidance on how to request individuals to become a "Trusted Contact".

This is pretty frustrating; the software assumes that everyone will want to use every aspect of it, which is certainly not true for me.

Hi,

Open Privacy Manager HP protect tools or from the Outlook Toolbar and click certificates..See if you can change the default Privacy manager certificate or delete the certificate and check if it helps.

Similarly go to Privacy Manager and Trusted Contacts Manager and remove them.

Privacy Manager

Yes i agree with you on that..removing privacy manager and security tools could be little complicated sometimes.
