Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

Hi simon-burks, look at the top of this web page, click on support and drivers. Type in your model, then click on your flavor of Vista (32 or 64 bit).

Or just click the link here!

Vista drivers will work well in most cases.

Good luck!

Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

Thank you, just tried that.  It comes up with installation failure and the sound properties box appears and says no sound device installed, and windows box comes up saying compatability problem with device and driver.  Got any other ideas that might be able to help me please.

Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

Hi simon-birks, Well, the only other thing I can suggest is to go to Device Manager, disable the sound, re-start your computer, and se if Windows can find the driver all on it's own.

On my XP machine, I would persona;lly use Driver Detective to find and install the drivers; it's not free, but worked well for me. I can't say how it works in Win 7, becuase my PC's new and has no problems.

Go to Download.com, search for Driver Detective; it will suggest at the bottom some (even free) alternatives to Driver Detective.

Good luck-again! Let me know how this turns out, please:smileyhappy:

Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

This is praveen and the solution for your query is to install only Xp in your Notebook according to your product specifications you do not have options to upgrade for windows7 . Your Notebook is desined for Xp operating system only please click on the below web link for the confirmation:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00599536&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_US...

In order to get back to Xp we should have Xp discs part from this we can not do any thing......

Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

Hi praveen (with due respect), it's true that his PC does not support Win7; however just because HP doesn't support it does not mean that Win 7 cannot be installed on it. With some luck, it may even work:smileywink:

Simon-birk's model supports XP and Vista, so it may be a logical leap of faith that Win 7 may work just fine, with some tweaking.

I have an HP laptop that does not "support" Win 7 also; I went ahead with the Win 7 installation, and it works just fine.

I know full well I don't have HP's support or blessing; it's still a choice I made.

This does not mean to say it will work for every PC, or individual.

simon-birks, as you began, you're on your own with your Win 7 installation (with any help these forums can provide)

If you cannot make the PC work with Win 7, just roll it back to XP, or Vista--whichever you began with.

Good luck, and reply with your progress, please.

Re: Issue with no sound after upgrading to Windows 7

Simon-birks,

Prior to migrating to Windows 7 from Windows XP did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?
To determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7 please go to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx
