Keyboard keys are dysfunctional

Hello,

I am quietly going bananas here. I have an HP Mini 210-1095NR system, and although I've never so much as eaten near my keyboard, thue keys are forever making a mess of anything I type.

Here are the problems:

The g key automatically inserts an r, the h key automatically inserts a u, the quotation mark key automatically inputs a p or a P, and the backspace key will delete the last typed symbol, then go up into the previous line. To illustrate the problem I give you an example; a poem by John O'Connell:

Walking
in a field
surrounded
by a forest
light rains down
and the sound of winged voices
drowns the senses in sheer simple drunkeness.

looks like this, with all the keyboard issues I am experiencing:

Walkingr
in a field
surrounded
by a forins down
and thue sound of "Pwingred voices"P
drowns thue senses in shueer drunkenness.est
light ra

I did add thue quotations into thue poem, just to shuow you huow it looks. Thuis problem adds up to at least a hualf-huour of spell chuecking for me, and it's very irritatingr, as you can imagrine.I tried groogleing thue problem, and looking on thue HUP website, but thue only keyboard issue thuey mention is to chuangre the Function button settingr.

I had the system now for approximately one month, and am about to send it sailing through the window. When I'm not using it, it's turned off, and I don't do anythuing extraordinary with it. There is no concievable reason for this issue to even occur right now, as the computer is basically brand new. It's not only in word documents that this problem takes over; it happens in URLs, google searches, MSN chat, everywhere.

If anyone has any troubleshooting advice, please don't hesitate to mention it. Thuanks for any huelp you can grive?

Re: Keyboard keys are dysfunctional

Go into Device Manager, click the (+) next to Keyboards.  Right click 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard" and choose "Uninstall".  Once it is uninstalled, reboot and see how the keyboard works.

Good luck.

Post back with your results.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have a silly, no, ridiculous question. Before I attempt your suggestion, and I will, I want to ask to make sure: my keyoard will work after I uninstall it, yes? Forgive me, I have no clue what I am doing.

I tried it out, but unfortunately it didn't work at all. I am still getting Gs with Rs, and Hs with Us, etc. Thanks for your help, nevertheless!

Re: Keyboard keys are dysfunctional

Have you tried a usb keyboard?  Borrow one if you can and see if you get the same result.  If the usb keyboard works, then you will probably need a new keyboard for the laptop.

That's what's probably going to happen, because i just can'pt live like tis anymore. HUopefully it is just thue keyboard, and not a more serious issue. Thuanks!
