Accepted Solution

Laptop dv6-3250

I totally deleted my hard drive (including the O S). If I order a  Recovery Media CD/DVD from HP's web site (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5052...) will I be able to restore my computer? In other words, does the disc include the operating system?

Hi,

Yes, the Recovery Discs will reinstall the Operating System and nearly all of the original software that came with your notebook - the most notable exception is usally Microsoft Office Starter.

See the link below for details on using your Recovery Discs to reinstall the OS.

Re: Laptop dv6-3250

I have another question. I posted it but I don't know if you got it...I'm new to forums. (My first one actually.)

On the web site (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5052...) I clicked the "+" next to "ORDER RECOVERY MEDIA" and there was a message: 2010-11-22 , Version:N/A.

Does that mean anything...will the disk still work for me?

Please use plain text.

Re: Laptop dv6-3250

One more question about the DV6-3250 and the Recovery Disc. On the web page (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5052...) I opened the "+" next to "ORDER RECOVERY MEDIA" and there was a message: 2010-11-22 , Version:N/A. What does that mean? Will it still work?

Please use plain text.

Re: Laptop dv6-3250

Hi,

Yes, the Recovery Discs will work - the 'date and Version N/A' is common to all the Recovery Discs order links I've seen recently for many different machines.

Best regards,

Re: Laptop dv6-3250

And...once again...THANKS.

Your information saved me $. I thought I would have to purchase a new operating system. I can now relax. :womanhappy:

Re: Laptop dv6-3250

Hi,

Recovery Discs are pretty good for the price - another advantage to using these rather than a Retail copy of Windows is that the Recovery Discs will also install all the Hardware drivers required for your notebook.

Best regards,
