Hi,
Yes, the Recovery Discs will reinstall the Operating System and nearly all of the original software that came with your notebook - the most notable exception is usally Microsoft Office Starter.
See the link below for details on using your Recovery Discs to reinstall the OS.

DP-K

I have another question. I posted it but I don't know if you got it...I'm new to forums. (My first one actually.)
On the web site (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategor
Does that mean anything...will the disk still work for me?

Hi,
Yes, the Recovery Discs will work - the 'date and Version N/A' is common to all the Recovery Discs order links I've seen recently for many different machines.
Best regards,
DP-K

And...once again...THANKS.
Your information saved me $. I thought I would have to purchase a new operating system. I can now relax. ![]()

Hi,
Recovery Discs are pretty good for the price - another advantage to using these rather than a Retail copy of Windows is that the Recovery Discs will also install all the Hardware drivers required for your notebook.
Best regards,
DP-K
