A couple of months ago, I purchased an HP G72 Notebook. It was pre-loaded with Windows 7. I absolutely hate Windows 7. I have a copy of XP here and am trying to figure out if there is any possible way that I can get rid of Windows 7 and load XP???

Please post your model number.
Windows 7 has many improvement compared to Vista, give it a try ![]()
If you wish to install XP, try reading XP downgrade guide here
If you notebook use intel processor, use Nlite to slipstream sata driver here
The remaining drivers can be found in XP downgrade guide.
Post again if you need more help.

Rakhmad,
Thank you for the help so far. My model number is G72-260US. I looked over the downgrade guide that you linked, but I don't see instructions for a G72 notebook. I do see a G70 listed. Should I follow the instructions for the G70?

Most of the info/drivers for G70 will work_except you have Realtek Audio. Be sure to still follow instructions to install MS UAA before audio driver.
Realtek Audio: HERE
As a safety measure, be sure to make your Win 7 Recovery Disk set...just in case HERE

Thank you both for the information. I guess now is the time to attempt this with some time off over Christmas. We'll see how it goes!

I have sort of the same problem. A customer brought in a G72-B57CL to have it downgraded to XP pro. They already wiped the original OS so CPU-z isn't an option. I tried ICH9 sata drivers from F^6and get blue screens. Does this model use a different SATA driver than the G70?
Thanks for any input
