Long Boot-Up Times

I have a Presario CQ50 running Vista Home Premium.  After one of my OS updates, I started experiencing long boot-up times.  I've timed it.  After turning on my computer, logging in and typing in my password, it takes between 7 and 8 minutes for my desktop to appear. 

 

Is this an appropriate issue for this forum, or should I try to find a Microsoft Vista forum to post on?

What antivirus/Firewall are you using?
