Hi all,
this post is regarding this piece of equipment:
Product: notebook HP550
Product Number: NA952EA#AKB
OS: Windows Vista Home (32bit)
If HP had their database information up-to-date, I wouldn't be writing my question here. My question is relatively easy. After a year of heaving this notebook, I decided to look for new drivers and firmwares. I wanted to start with the BIOS firmware. This is where I stand. My HP550 latest BIOS firmware is F.02 (family 68MVU and its release date is 08/20/2008), but I found that the latest firmware for this product here is F.00 (05/22/2008). I did some research and some pages say that it is safe to use firmware of the same family (68MVU) from different series (e.g. HP530 - they have firmware F.07 or so). What would you suggest? I am confused that I have higher firmware release then is officially here. I haven't done firmware upgrade to this notebook since I bought it and I bought it brand new. Is it really save to use latest firmware from different series if it uses the same family? I would like to upgrade.
This is the support & drivers page for this product:

Maybe there are no problems found later on the HP 550 that require an updated BIOS. As to why you have newer than is listed on HP pages_that has happened on other models. The original BIOS is posted, then a later BIOS is installed on laptops manufactured after the initial release. This is where things get goofy, because often the new BIOS isn't added to the drivers page.Same thing happened on my dv2810us.
I don't recommend using a BIOS from the HP 530. Why would you even want to try a BIOS older than yours. F.07 released 18 Mar 2008.

Hi GerylG,
thank you for your suggestion. I am not saying I would do it. I just wanted a suggestion that you gave me. I was also trying to find out, why my version is F.02 and the latest here is F.00. They had planty of time (like 2yrs) to put it here and they didn't so I was wondering why not.
Thanks, I will not upgrade until they update this page with a newer version.

I have some problems with my graphic card since I changed the processor. My BIOS is the Version F.00.
@neptun79: Could you send me a backup of your F.02 version BIOS?
It would be very nice.
thank you very much
