Loosing data while reinstalling Vista on HP laptop or not!?

Dear ALL!

Owning HP laptop I'm wondering: there are  two partitions installed: D - Recovery and C - partition which contains my files and installed programms (including Windows Vista itself).

Question is: If my computer would have any problem and I have to reinstall Vista, Am I gonna loose all my data on drive C!?

If, YES, than is it a sollution to devide drive C on two partitions!?

Thanks in advance for your answers! And a good day!

Yes, you will lose ALL Data stored on drive C.  The best way to protect your data is to perform regular/incremental backups to an external hard drive or online storage company.
