Missing driver for base system device

Device manager is showing a missing driver for a ""base system device".

Hardware id's:

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&SUBSYS_1630103C&REV_30
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&SUBSYS_1630103C
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2392&CC_0880

Can someone help me find the correct device & driver?

Re: Missing driver for base system device

Hi:

That is your JMicron card reader in need of drivers.

Since you didn't post your model or operating system, I assume you know where to find the drivers for it.

Re: Missing driver for base system device

Hi,

Yes that fixed it.

For the record 8760W win7 Pro.

One other issue, I cannot get my fingerprint reader to work.  I have uninstalled and re-installed the driver, but windows still says I do not have any biometric sensors installed.  What category in the device manager should it be showing up under?  Security devices?  Human Interface Devices?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Missing driver for base system device

Hi:

It should be listed under Biometric devices. In order for the thing to work, you also need to install the software.

So, you need the driver:

...and the software...

I also recommend you read this manual for the Protect Tools software.

Re: Missing driver for base system device

Hi,

I saw in another post someone mentioned it might be deactivated in the bios.  So I looked in the bios, and it is unchecked under built in devices.  My problem now is that 99% of the options in the bios are gray-ed out and can't be accessed.

When entering the bios it asks if I want to be a guest user, I told it no, then it asks me to provide the password for the owner acct, which I did, but for some reason it is treating me like I don't have access to make any changes.

The computer is 2nd hand, if that helps.

Re: Missing driver for base system device

Hi:

I wish I remember where I read it but someone said you can log into the BIOS as a guest user and somehow remove the password on the BIOS.

You can try searching on this forum or the HP business forum. I think the notebook being referenced was a 6930p, but I can't say for sure.
