My Presario won't boot

My laptop won't boot: black screen with the following message appears:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.   To fix the problem:

*Insert windows installation disk and restart computer

*Choose language setting than click next

*Click repair computer

 

I  went to the BIOS of my machine and select the CD/DVD drive be the first boot device. I Insert the System Recovery DVD install disk, restart the computer. It  then load all of the files, It ask me if i want to Reformat I said yes an I got a error , an the error was 100a

I have a Presario CQ60-419WM I'm running Vista. Please if anyone can help please help
