I allowed a friend to talk me into installing Unbuntu. That was a mistake and I quickly decided to get rid of it. Sadly the only way is to erase the entire drive. So now I have no recovery system. I went to HP driver software and downloaded everything there.
Here are the two main problems I am facing now. First when the driver to upgrade firmware for optical drive is ran, it shows that I do not have one. My dvd player seems to work, although I have not used it for anything other than movie watching since this happened. Problem #2. the scroll bar on pad no longer works. The feature that came with the pc, I forget the name, but it was a type of pointing feature is no longer installed. I did not see a driver for it, so no clue how to move forward.

Hi,
Next time you do an install...only format the C: partition instead of both C: and D: (Recovery partition).
Go to your product's support page (we have no idea what it is since you didn;t state what it is) and click on Support and then go to Parts. Order a Restore cd set. They aren't that expensive. The Restore cd set should have you up and running once you get it.
This could have happened to most people so don't feel bad. ![]()

erico
