Pavilion dv4 Issues Installing Windows 7 - Hard drive not recognize [ Edited ]

Hi everyone,

Here is the situation, I have a Pavilion dv4-2045dx,

2.2GHz AMD Turon II Dual-Core

Windows 7 64-Bit

Seagate SATA 5400 320 GB

4GB Ram

The computer for some reason just does not recognize the hard drive.  So I replaced it with a used Toshiba hard drive that already has XP OS on it (just for testing).  Fortunately, that works!  Then I put the original hard drive into an enclosure to see if I can read the data from another computer...no problem there. 

I went out to purchase another hard drive just to make sure that it is not the hard drive that is giving me the problem.  When I swapped out the old hard drive with the new one, it has the same problem bios cannot read it and installing with the recovery disc does not recognize it.

Here are the Errors:

When I ran the recovery disc, which was purchased through HP:

"Application Close

[info] no hdd"

I have also checked the bios under the

diagnostics > primary hard drive self test: I get

"Hard Disk Does Not Exist"

This laptop has a VERY limited InsydeH20 bios, so there is no way I can turn off SATA/AHCI setting.

So right now I am in a bind, if anyone can help me, much is appreciate.

No reponses?  I have same issue and cannot get it straightened out.  So much for a support forum.

I have the same issue with my HP dv4  I will let you know if I find anything out.

I see that all of you are unable to get the hard drive detected on one notebook where as the same hard drive is working on the other notebooks. If this is the case, it might be the problem with the hard drive controller on the motherboard where the hard drive is being connected. Please get the notebook serviced to get the problem resolved.

I sent the unit to an EBAY seller who specializes in repairing HP laptops.

It was a flat fee and extremely cheap compared to buying a board and trying it myself.

The EBAY seller is VALUERECOVERY

I just looked on EBAY and he may just be listing laptops for sale right now...so message him and see if he still repairs laptops.
