Pavilion dv5 not waking from sleep

This laptop is barely 2 months old. It's running Windows 7 (64-bit). First noticed non-wakeup issue within a month of having setup the laptop - was likely the first time I tried using the feature, too. In the beginning it wouldn't awaken from a lid-closing sleep (my most common 'sleep' action to keep kids off.) I could hear the hard drive trying to spin up and the power & wireless lights blinked slowly. Ended up unplugging and pulling the battery. At that time if I chose "Sleep" from the start menu, it would wake up. A few weeks later, it didn't even do that. Every way sleep was initiated, the "waking up" ended up with the same blinking lights and hard drive sounds.

I reset the power plan options to default and rebooted. For about a week menu item sleep could be awakened, but still not the lid-closing. Now I'm back to sleep not waking up at all with the same lights and sounds as before.

I removed all the peripherals except the power cord and network cable - waking up still doesn't work.

??? Now what???

Hi,

This problem can sometimes occur if Hybrid Sleep is enabled.  To disable this, follow the instructions on the link below.

Remember to click Apply to save any changes you may have made and the restart the notebook.

Hydbird sleep off, still not waking.  Also, touchpad and keyboard not working after sleep.  Please help.

I sort of have the same problem. I just got it today from future shop. I closed the lid for the first time but when i opened it, the power button and wifi button just flashed but the laptop would not turn on. My dad tried to fix it but stil no luck. I checked online and they said to disenable the hybrid sleep, but mine was already off. I'm still trying to figure it out. If I find a solution, ill let you know. If you find it first, please reply.

Check your support page to see if you have the latest BIOS.Use the button at top of this page-"Support & Drivers"_ to find your models page. You will need full model number or P/N as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop.

If the updated BIOS didn't help, try updating the graphics driver from your support page.

Hello, 

I have done quite a bit of research on this, my computer still won't wake form sleep, HP Pavillion DV-5. 

I've updated the bios and every other update, restore default schemes, and all that happens is it goes to sleep and the power and the f12 key blink occasianally. I have to take out the battery to restart. Any solutions?

I am having the same problem. Even though a lot of people seem to have this issue, HP refuses to fix or even look at this issue without me paying tbem for it. I refuse to pay them to figure out their design flaws. My next four laptops will not come from HP and my next 50 for work wont either. If they cant tell us what is causing this widespreax issue, then I wont be gi ing them any more of my money.
