My USB mouse has stopped working all of a sudden. My device manager looks like this:
When I come back from hibernation, I get
When I double-click on "Unknown device", I get:
I've tried replacing the mouse with a brand new one, but still no response. It's really frustrating using the built-in trackpad, my big hands can't type because I'm constantly accidently hitting the trackpad and moving the cursor all over the screen. Would really prefer a working mouse. Can anybody help me???
Specs: Windows 7 64-bit, 4GB RAM

Please update the BIOS of your system with the help of WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with Intel Processors) from the following weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46590
NOTE: Please close all the open programs before installing this BIOS update. Do not shutdown the system in the middle of the BIOS update. Also, please wait for the BIOS update process to complete.
Then install the Intel Chipset Installation Utility from the following weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45973

When I try this it tells me current BIOS: F.43 New BIOS F.41
Are you saying I should downgrade my bios?
Thanks for the help.

@DavidPMays
It is always recommended to have the latest BIOS version installed. In your case, F.43 is the latest version of BIOS. Please do not downgrade to F.41.
If you are experiencing the same problem with the USB ports, please try installing the updated chipset drivers.
If not, please post the issue in detail here...

Vidya
