Pleaes, please, help someone! I had this problem once before. And I annoying had to go through a recall and send my computer in to get my motherboard replaced. That was a hassle and I lost a lot of data that wasn't backed up.
Two nights ago, my computer shutdown for the usual automatic update. Ever since that happen, my computer won't boot properly. When I turn the power on, the panel lights illuminate and I hear the fan. But within seconds it shuts down again before the HP logo even comes on the screen. And it does this over and over and over and over again. Eventually it comes on after doing this 50 times. Or it will come on if I remove the battery and hold down the power button... but that's only sometimes. I've since backed up everything, but I don't want to have to send in my laptop again.
I'm assuming it's a notorious BIOS problem, but I don't even know how to solve it if it is. Someone please help! Is anyone else experiencing this problem. Again, this happened last year and it really pissed me off. And I'd promise if this happened again, I would switch to MAC... this coming from the most loyal Windows guy ever!

I have the same laptop with the same problems. Sent computer in and HP replaced motherboard and hard drive....One year to the day later the computer has the same issues you do. Called HP and they said I was SOL because the computer was no longer warrantied. I asked them if there was a recall on the motherboard as well and this guy just shrugged me off and blamed it on me and my "usage"!!!! The computer never left my house.
My Sister had problems and they replaced her motherboard...tried to talk my dad from buying an HP right now until they get their act together.
Word to the wise...if your wireless switch stops turning blue....back up everything as fast as you can becaus eyou will probably loose you board in the VERY near future.
seems to me they should recall this Computer asap although they are making cash on repairs...there should be a lemon law on these as well. I will be on my third motherboard.....Great customer service....I"m going to use it as a paper weight and bought a Toshiba yesterday. I wouldn't send this computer in again if they fixed it for free...it wouldn't be worth the aggrivation.
I am going to blog this computers problems to anyone who will listen until the recall the whole computer.

Thanks! It's good to hear that I'm not alone on this. It's ridiculous. I will NEVER buy another HP laptop again. I was going to get one of their mini-notebooks for my girlfriend for Christmas, but HP just saved me $549 bucks! Ridiculous! I'm sorry about your HP, but glad to hear it's happened to other people, so I know better to stay away from now on.

No problem, By the way my sisters computer was a compaq that needed her MB replaced...her wireless did the same thing before it crashed.
It is funny but if you look at all the websights like Hp, fixya, etc. you will hear alot of people with the same or similar problems and HP is telling them different things...Overclocked bios, cmos battery, hard drive, motherboard, etc. well what I tried explaing to that guy in India was unless you fix all the problems and not just throw in another MB I will be having this same one sided discussion in 6 months to a year....add it up..New MB, HD, BIOS, Memory, etc and OHHH not to mention the HP ac adaptors that go bad within 18 months....Look at how many of those are going bad...maybe they cause surges and that is the problem? It really is anyones guess. I had an update that crashed computer and had to reinstall everything again. The problems are more numerous then the computers features, and that is saying something. They should have followed the KISS method. I spent bank on this and no matter how yo do the math it doesn't add up to gamble on another MB.
Good luck and I hope that you get to the acceptance stage soon...i am not there yet I am still in denial/anger stage and if misery loves company believe me there are a lot of websights to bitch on. All you can do my brother is spread the word about HP after all it is written and needs to be shared to all of the blind so they can see!!!!
