Download the latest HP QuickPlay Software, QuickPlay 3.7 v.6112 , it will works fine with windows 7.
If you found the quickplay button did not launch that software, reinstall Quick Launch Button software.
It will fix the instalation.

All I get with that version is it just keeps prompting me to upgrade to the latest version. Every time I try to play a Blu-ray, any Blu-ray it says a critical component is missing, would you like to up date to the most resent version ? It just goes around in circles.
Yet when I downloaded a trial version of Power DVD 9 from CyberLink it works great.
It would be nice if someone could find a solution to this. I have spent an entire day trying to solve it my self and I simply have run out of ideas. ![]()
This is on a dv7 1027ca.

@HaggisCat,
You have a new model, have you tried installing HP MediaSmart DVD Software ?
For you new model, HP provides HP Media Smart software instead of QuickPlay software.
However, for Blu-Ray, I read somewhere people are also complaining about its compatibility.
@Fareed
Try it, you'll happy with it.

Thanks Rakhmad, I will try this tonight and I will temporarily disable my virus protection as that seems to be causing a problem with the down load. "Format Not Supported" comes up if the anti virus software is not disabled. That was the other problem, but I haven't tried disabling my firewall and anti virus (ESET).

I turned off Windows Fire Wall and disabled my Eset before downloading Media Smart and during installation. I still get the message "format not supported"
I guess it was worth a try. Could clearing out all the browsing history from IE8 be helpful in keeping the program from loading properly. That shouldn't make any difference though.
I grasping at straws here ?????
Did and experiment.
I copied the actual Media Smart software to a memory card right out of the files on drive "C" from my dv8 1000 cto.
I know that it works on my dv8 playing blu-rays ; specifically "SeaBiscuit".
I copied the software into drive "C" on the dv7 1027ca and opened the software from the registry files with in the program. The window for Media Smart opened as normal and I used the eject button with in the software so the program is running properly, but when I tried to play SeaBiscuit, I got "format not supported"
I am guessing here that the Media Smart software is not recognising the model of the Blu-ray driver in the dv7 or that the driver for the Blu-ray is not compatible with the Media Smart software. Just have to find the right driver that works, if that's even possible.
Maybe a light will go on in my head or some one else's. The dvd/cd player is a "Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S ATA Device"
See my thread as to a solution for my problem :

I am also going to give thanks for Rakhmad for giving me a possible answer, but I am going to point out that it was my solution to update the BIOS that worked for me.

I solved my problem by flashing the BIOS to a newer version. Quick Play and Media Smart both work now.

Will this newer version of QP work with Microsoft's WorstOS Vista 64bit?
My bluray won't play Avatar at all on my DV5.
