Recovery Disk E on HP Pavilion dv7-4197cl Notebook Reads Full

I have a HP 1 TB, 6GB RAM laptop.  I transferred info from an HP Vista 500 GB, 4 GB RAM laptop.  I keep getting messages of low disk space.   I checked and found the E Drive reads full (only 34 mb remaining). Drives C and D are okay.  How do I resolve the issue of a full E Drive?  I don't have that much on my computer.

Drive E should not be used for anything but HP diagnostics, did you Copy any files to E?

E is a small HP diagnostic partition, so there will not be much free space.

The Recovery partition is by default set up with only enough space for files needed to reinstall your OS & programs.Be sure you haven't saved any files there. You might also check System Restore and turn off monitoring for the Recovery drive. Either way, there isn't a problem_Windows just thinks there is.

Please perform the steps in section "How can I fix these errors?" but apply these for E drive instead of D drive as shown in the document accessible from the following weblink:

Another easy fix for this would just involve hiding the drive letter. As previous posters have mentioned the drive being full effect anything inside of windows. If it bugs you the easiest way to fix the issue is to hide the drive letter

Right click on Computer

Left click on Manage

When it loads on the left you will see Disk Management - Click on it

On the right you will see a list of all drives you have installed on your pc

Locate the Hp recovery drive

Right click the drive and choose change drive letter or path

A box will pop up with some options to change the letter and a check box to remove the letter

Check that box to remove Click ok

You will get a warning message. Click yes or ok to continue

Check computer and you will now see the drive is not showing.

Problem fixed - The HP recovery manager will still be fully accessable via start menu or F11
