Re: Recovery Disks After DBAN

How about using normal colors instead of glaring red?

Test your recovery manager from within Windows first. The recovery disk set should also work. You will have to install the drivers by using the recovery manager after you perform a factory image recovery.

The use of DBAN should not matter.

If you have any doubts just put in a spare hard disk after removing the original one and run the recovery manager with the disk set to test its operation.

Re: Recovery Disks After DBAN

Thank You for your reply, i thought this would be the case, but after some extensive googleing i found that lots of people had problem using there recovery disks after dban. When i first booted up this computer hp asked me if i wanted to make a set of recovery DVD's,  i did, it made like six i think. So after running DBAN the disks should restore the computer to the time when i made the recovery dvds? Just to make sure i have this right. Oh and sorry about the red, its my favorite color! i always try to type in red, but while using this forum i will refrain from this impulse. Will give kudos for your answer.

Re: Recovery Disks After DBAN

[ Edited ]

Really no need to use dban. When booting from the Recovery Disks they will format the hard drive before reinstalling. And,you are right -I have seen several posters here report problems using recovery after dban.

If you feel better formatting before running Recovery I suggest Partition Wizard to boot from and delete all partitions, create one & format. Download the Bootable CD iso here .Get ImgBurn here to burn the image to cd.

Re: Recovery Disks After DBAN

Thanx Cheryl... The reason I'm so set on using a program like dban is I'm a type of freelance umm lets say information specialist. That makes what i do sound real fancy, its not. Basically this computer handles TONS of very sensitive types of files, again this sounds super cool, trust me its not. I am already very careful with how i delete information, and use a several pass wipe with each file then use three programs to delete all the windows traces then use a program to wipe the free space several times. I am very security conscience but any extra protection i can use (like dban) before i sell this machine i plan on using. Thank you all for viewing and answering, ill give kudos to those who answer. Im going to leave this post open for a few days to see if any one has any security tips to use on this machine before i sell it then i will marked as problem solved after the successful use of dban and restore of the computer.
