Recovery disc and lost boot mgr, please help

HP Pavilion dv6500c (HP Pavilion dv6567cl  )

After laptop was taken forever and kept giving me not responding on everything, decided to go and lose everything and put back to factory default, system restore didn't take to put it to an earlier time, so tried system recovery, it would get about 1% on the formatting then get error 0X400 100 130000 1002, then when I tried to get back on, says boot mgr missing. Found my back up disc I made, thinking I found a fixit for it, did the same thing and same error. I am at a lost to do now, still need the boot mgr to boot up. Thanks for any help in the matter.

Maybe the hard drive is failed. Try run the diagnose test in bios. Test memory and hard drive.

I ran the diagnostic test that I could and it showed nothing.Thanks.
