Greetings forum:
I am having a small issue. I received my recovery discs today for my HP laptop which runs windows XP, I put in the first disc and I don't know what else to do. What do I press after putting the disc in? Any help would be appreciated.
my laptop is a HP dv6105us
Runs windows XP media center edition
Thank you.

With the disk in the drive, use the Start button to initiate a shut down. Next power on the laptop and when you get a prompt to boot from CD/DVD tap the spacebar.

Thank you for your answer. But the problem is that my laptop doesn't boot up at all and, I bought the recovery discs because I couldn't find my original ones. So, do I still do what you said?

The laptop doesn't boot into windows or it won't power on at all? If it will power on,put the cd in the drive and push the power button to turn it on.

Yeah, it powers on but it doesn't boot windows. Okay, so I'll just put the disc in and power it on and then just press space bar when it prompts me.

I'ts not working. It doesn't even prompt me for nothing, all it does is ask me if I want to boot windows normally etc etc. I tried pressing F10 to enter setup but that's no help, I also tried pressing ESC and this part says if I want to boot from ATAPI CD/DVD or Computer hard drive and I forgot the other option so, I highlight "ATAPI CD/DVD" press space bar and nothing happens, so I pressed Enter but all it does is it takes me to the beginning where I started.
I reinstalled the OS on my MAC not too long ago and it was sooooooo easy, macs are so user friendly, why can't PC be this way? lol Anyway, I still want to fix my HP laptop, any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

Have you tried tapping away at the F11 key right after powering on to see if it will boot into Recovery Manager and install from the recovery partition on your hdd?
