Newly purchased DV6-3240us with Windows 7 Home Premium with no media. Input an initial password at system setup, then to apply Windows updates from online powered off and at re-start my password is not recognised. I seem to recall this same thing happened with my DM1z laptop, but then I had media. So I had to use the recover disk to resolve,
How can I reset my password on the DV6 with no media?
Also noticed no bluetooth available in Control Panel. I had siilar issues with Bluetooth on the DM1z and a new driver was provided by HP.
Is there new bluetooth software available for the DV6?

Yours should have recovery on the hard drive, use F11 at the HP splash screen durning power up to access it, not sure if there is anything in recovery Manager that can help, be careful what you do in RM.

Reset a forgotten Windows 7 password is not troublesome now. You can try a free tool Offline NT Password Editor to clear the password.

In fact, to reset a laptop Windows 7 password is not so troublesome now. You can reset a forgotten Windows 7 password by using a installation disk, a user account with admin privileges, or reset it with a recovery tool no matter what brand of laptop you are using, dell/hp/toshiba/acer/samsung or other. These three tips will not lead to lose any filses or other things.
Tip one: Reset Laptop Windows 7 Password with Windows 7 Installation CD
1. Insert the installation disk to your locked computer, restart. When following interface appears. Cllick“Repair your computer”.
2. A dialog with several options pops up, click Command Prompt.
3. When a Command Prompt black screen appears, type "copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe" and press Enter. Then type "copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe" afterwards press Enter key.
4. Restart your computer. On the login screen, tap Shift key five times and you'll see a command prompt screen in administrator mode. OK, type "net user UserName NewPassword" (replace the UserName and UserPassword with which you wanna) and press Enter key. The user password will be replaced with new one. Close the window and then you can login your laptop Windows 7 with new password.
Tip two: Reset Windows 7 password with CMD
1. Logon you laptop with another user account which has admin privileges.
2. Click Start, type in "CMD.EXE" in the search box, press Enter.
3. Cammand screen apears, type in "net user" "user name" " new password", press Enter.
The user account password will be replace as the new one.
Tip three: Recover Windows 7 password with a Windows password recovery tool.
This method requires you to load a Windows 7 password recovery program.
1. Install the program on another computer and create a password recovery disk with USB
2. Insert the disk to your laptop and set your laptop to boot from it.
3. All user accounts will be loaded, then you can reset any user password.
