Restoring Operating System

I need to restore my Windows XP operating system on my HP 1030NR mini.  I don't remember the disks being included with the product.  Is there a site where I can download or order the operating system recovery disks ?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Swankie,

Please see the section "Backing up and Restoring" in this Product Manual for the HP 1030NR

Re: Restoring Operating System

With XP not download Linux from an XP machine!

I have the same issue and have to say, I'll NEVER EVER buy HP anything ever again.  Their support for netbooks UNDER WARRENTY suck to say the least.

I've had this issue for months and zero support/help/anything!

Oh and buying the restores discs won't help.  The **bleep** computer won't recogize a usb dvd drive or a USB install stick.

HP SUCKS!

Re: Restoring Operating System

@dgriessmann,

Run Bios. Choose there System Configuration menu -> Boot Options:

Boot Order—Set the boot order for:
◦ Internal hard drive (select models only)
◦ USB Floppy
◦ USB CD/DVD ROM Drive
◦ USB Diskette on Key
◦ USB Hard drive
◦ USB Card Reader
◦ Network adapter

If You won't find any of this options then update Your Bios.

Bios update for mini 1030NR here.

How to update Bios?

Plug You ac adapter to the computer.

Disconnect from the internet. Switch off any antivirus and firewalls.

Start updating Bios. It may take some time. Don't switch off Your laptop, don't disconnect ac and don't do anything on it when this update is running.

If You have other model then write down Your p/n number which is under Your computer and looks like this.

Re: Restoring Operating System

You also wont find those options on the Netbook, unless the USB drive is actually plugged into the Netbook.
