Screen displaying Red Lines & Flickering

I have a HP Pavillion dv9005 laptop and is now displaying red lines where ever the screen is white.  It is also flickering.  I can use the computer but it seems slow and will not let me download the new service pack or do a system restore.  Not sure why this has happened as it was working fine yesterday afternoon.  I hope someone can help?

Are the lines vertical or horizontal?  Have you had any other issues with it recently?

Try this -> Turn the notebook off (Shut Down).  Press the power button and turn it on...when the notebook displays the HP logo...start tapping on the F10 key until you get in to the BIOS.  If you have the lines and flickering in the BIOS, then it's a hardware failure...which could be related to this known issue.

The lines are vertical and the flickering seems to be getting worse!  I will try turning it off and hope it is not a hardware failure!

So there are red vertical lines in the BIOS!  Unfortunately, my computer product number does not match the ones listed for the enhanced warranty service link.  I am hoping someone has a suggestion?  Do I need to take it in?  Thanks.

1.  What is the PN (Product Number)?
2.  When did you buy it --> Is it still covered by a warranty?

I would have it serviced if it's still under warranty.

The product number is EZ452UA#ABA.  The product itselft says one year warranty and I know I was not smart enough to buy an extended warranty.  I bought the computer December 2006 so I don't believe it is under warranty but I will check.

Okay before I go any further with the enhancement warranty it may not be hardware failure.  I just happen to notice when I moved the laptop screen/monitor down the red lines dissappeared?  Right now i don't have the lines but if I moved the screen back just a bit they appear?  So now I am thinking it is something else?

Consider installing this Application (Not a program that modifies your registry) to document the temperature of your GPU. There are 32 bit and 64-bit downloads.   All you do is unzip the .exe to a file on your directory. Removal of this App is done by simply deleting the files.

i am using dv9000 , red line is coming in centre of my screen since 2 days.. pl help
