I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop and a HP Officejet J6410 All-in-one printer, scanner, fax, copier. Had them 18 months. But the the last 2 months approx, everytime I switch on my laptop or try to scan a document I get the following various 'Solution Center' messages:
- The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Solution Center' disk and click OK.
- An installation package for the product Solution Center cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Solution Center.msi'.
- The following applications should be closed before continuing the install
hpqdirec.exe
Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after set up is complete
Do not close applications (A reboot will be required).
I am constantly having to cancel these messages which is a bit irritating, but most annoying thing is that I cannot scan a document by pressing scan on the ALL-IN-ONE anymore. I now have to do it from my laptop by opening HP Solution Center and clicking scan document and then cancelling loads of these error messages before it then eventually scans the document.
Does anybody know how I can resolve these issues?
Many Thanks

There is a way to get around that scan button not working on your All in One..
You can get the original CD given with your computer for that All in one and installing that software that it detects it and this should solve all your solution center problems as the cd will have the software to repair those software installations etc. , just pop in that CD when it asks for it next time you open up those softwares.
OR
the easier method which i often do as i have this problem as well is to first turn on your All in One, then open up Paint program in Windows by going to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint
Then click on icon top left that gives you menu options Open, Save, etc. and you should see a option there saying From Scanner or Camera.. click on that and it should scan image into your Paint program where you can save it and then resize it inside another a paid program like Photoshop or free program like GIMP or even on the web on sites like Google Picasa.
Say thanks by clicking the "Kudos! Star" which is on the left.
Make it easier for other people to find solutions, by marking my answer with "Accept as Solution" if it solves your issue.

Check your printers page for an installer:
| ******Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!.****** **Clicking Accept as Solution on a Reply that solves your issue helps others who are searching** ++You must be the originator of thread to see the option Accept as Solution++ |
