A couple of days ago, my pc wouldn't boot up. I have power to the computer and touch lights illuminate and I can hear the fan running in the PC, but the hard disk does not seem to be booting.. I tried the hard boot, I've checked the drive, memory and nothing seems to be wrong there. Is there a battery that is connected to the hard drive that may need replacing? I have had this laptop for about 3 years and I'm thinking that maybe that is the problem, but I can't find the model number for the replacement. I think the part that I am talking about is the disk shaped plasticized wrapped thing with the two wires. This seems to be plugged into the hard disk and even when I disconnect it from the the hardrive, I can still get power, but there is no boot. Can anyone help?

There is no battery for the hard drive, maybe you are thinking of the cmos battery? This would not prevent it from booting.
