System crash. Files saved to Backup. Help Please

Hello,

My hard drive crashed and I just mailed the tower back to HP. Before doing so, I was able to create back up disks of my pictures, emails. etc... I won't have my computer back for 10 days and desperately need access to some emails. I do have a laptop but I cannot locate the email folder I am looking for. Is there a way to search directly from the back up disks?

Any help is appreciated.

What exactly were you using to get email?  Were you using web based or something like Outlook?

If you are using Outlook then your mail files reside in a pst file, usually outlook.pst which is usually in C:\Documents and Settings\your profile\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, unless you specified it to be located somewhere different.  If you did not backup that location then you do not have your email backed up.

Re: System crash. Files saved to Backup. Help Please

Sorry for my lack of knowledge. But when my Hard Drive crashed, I wasn't able to get back in Outlook. I was advised by HP to have Back Up disks created, which I have. 3 DVD's.  When I put in disk 1 I get the HP Centre advising File restore, followed by a prompt of what I would like to restore. Pics, Video's music, emails. etc.. I select Emails only and then run program. It has me change disks. disk 1,2 and 3. When I finish I have a Recovery Icon but it doesn't have the email file I am searching for. I was hoping there would be a way of searching directly on the Recovery disks by all I get when I do an all program scan of the disk is  E:\Backup.3.fbw, a restore.exe file and backup.2.fbw and backup.4.fbw.
