Hello,
I want to know if Ubuntu works on DV6-2090EO out-of-the-box. What components do not have any drivers and so on.

Hi.
The answer is..It does work, but you will might to locate a few divers, specifically the wireless drivers. The best source for that information will be at the Ubuntu forums. Many people have installed Ubuntu on laptops, myself included.
First...download the Ubuntu CD image here.
Then mount it from within Windows using MagicDisc or another virtual CD program.
Within the image there is an executable called USBCreator, Run that as administrator to make a installation thumbdrive.
You must format your thumbdrive as FAT32 for the creator program to work.
Here is a link to installation from USBstick to install the Notebook reloaded version of Ubuntu.
It took me thirty minites to make the bootable linux thumbdrive on my Intel Core2 Duo3 GHz PC so your time may vary.
have fun,
erico

Ahaa, thanks.
I might just buy it then =)
I'we been using Ubuntu for a long time now, but so far, I'we always had some minor problems, or managed to live without minor features (like working LEDs and random radio switches =P).
Do you know exactly what wireless adapter it uses ? Better, do HP publish what hardware they use, except the useal "random WIFI b/g/n-draft, random Bluetooth etc."
PS. i think you might have the model mixed up with something else. It do have an optical drive, and a propper 15" display, so USB installations and the Netbook Remix is most likley not needed.

I used the generic dv6000 series Service and Maintenance guide for reference. I used the model number that you provided. There are so many variations of models within a model series that it is difficult to know exactly what parts it has without a member providing the exact part number. Model numbers and part numbers provide different information. One is generic and the other is more precise.
I wish that I had a magic crystal ball that would reveal all.
, but I don't.
I use the thumbdrive install method as a preference since I a) don't have to waste cd's and b) don't have to worry about corrupt images. The choice of the Ubuntu install version is, of course, completely up to the user. The netbook version is more generic. Since I installed it in an ancient (1996) Compaq laptop, it seemed the best choice at the time.
regards,
erico
