Uknown device i Device Manager after upgrading to Windows 7 (dv7-2114eo - CNF9315MTN)

I am really satisified with my newly aquired HP Pavilion dv7-2114eo (read my review here; http://abokevin.com). As soon as I got it I performed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) on it. I used HPs driver page for this model and installed all available drivers and software. After finishing the upgrade process I still had an unknown device showing up in device manager. In the device properties the devices hardware ID is listed as ACPI/HPQ0004 and *HPQ0004.

Do you know of any available drivers that will enable this device properly? If not, do you know whether HP will provide drivers for this device in the (near) future? What is this device?

Hello,

please try the Protectsmart HDD driver, this is to protect your hard disk from physical shock -

This is the driver page for your Model

Take a look and see if you have missed something after the clean install

I have the same problem on a DV3.  Can I use the same driver for my machine?  There's no listing for the driver on either the 32bit or 64bit Win7 page listings.

Re: Uknown device i Device Manager after upgrading to Windows 7 (dv7-2114eo - CNF9315MTN)

Dan, the part number is a DV3-2150US.  I think it's the ProtectSmart (accelerometer) function. There is a yellow warning in the device manager saying 'Unknown Device', on the 'values' tab it says ACPI\HPQ0004.  In looking around it seems this is most often associated with the ProtectSmart driver but I cannot locate the right download for my machine.

Yes You are right.

Driver posted by Sanchertx is correct for Your model too.

Maybe someone ought to tell the folks at HP that manage the website that they ought to include that driver in the list for those of us upgrading to Win 7?  I'm surprised they missed that one.
