Vista downgrade to XP

I have just bought a laptop - HP Pavillion dv6-1107tx Entertainment Notebook PC

It has come with Vista... It sux... How would I downgrade to XP? Is it that easy??

Hi,

First make Vista beckup. All informations how to do it here.

You have a folder with drivers & programs that may prove very helpful after XP downgrade. Copy folder C:\Swsetup to DVD Before formatting your hdd.

Now You need to slipstream Your Sata drivers (only ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.

Here is guide how to do it and here are Sata drivers  for You. Just unrar this drivers with winrar.

Be sura also that You are using WinXP SP2 version. If you haven't go SP2 version here you can download this service pack

and here You have got guide how to slipstream this file with Your system again by nLite.

In this program You can even burn Your new XP cd with this driver.

MS-UAA for SP2 (required with a reboot before Audio, Modem and Graphic driver) here

MS-UAA for SP3 (required with a reboot before Audio, Modem and Graphic driver) here

NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS

  Modded Nvidia drivers ver 185.85.

   How to install them in XP:
   1. Download driver here, double click and select extract,
   2. Download from this site with drivers also INF Modified and replace original INF in extracted folder,
   3. Install & reboot.

Intel wireless 5100 here

Please check first this link written by Joshua Wood and concentrate in it on problems that may appear when You will be installing sound card. I know then this is guide for dv5 but many hardware and drivers are the same for both models.

IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver,

1. sp41698, vista driver, reported work in XP here

2. sp41693, vista driver, reported work in XP here

3. sp39671, vista driver, reported works in XP here or here

4. Find Your Vista audio driver on this DVD where You burned C:\Swsetup folder. It may also work under XP.

When You will install any audio driver with success check is Your sound working.

If there will be no sound after restart check this thread. There are informations how to solve this.

Choose to update driver, No to connect,

You've got dv4t-1400 CTO.

I thinks also then You need Bios update, but i can't access To Your model drivers website. Can You write in which country You bought it?

Don't install XP now i must check this information. There where very big changes for dv4t (released 2009-05-05) but I must be sure then it's for You too.

Bios update for this model can be only made in vista so that's why i ask You to wait with installation of XP.

What to do before installation of XP:

Backup, preparation of XP cd and Sata drivers are the same as in this thread above. Just follow this post, please.

OK, I really apreciate your help, gave kudos on other recent posts

ok, I bought it in the United States just a week ago,

but one thing i noticed my System Information says my P/N is NS27OAV, this is different from the one on the back of my pc (the one I gave you in my last post), I don't know why this is..

How do you know such specifics? Where do you get the information on what hardware I have? I can't seem to find it on the HP website..

Sorry but there are some problems with website for Your model. I just report about this situatio. So we must wait with that until it will be fixed let's hope then they will fix it soon.

About drivers... This is a very long story.
