I have a Pavilion dm1-4010us laptop which I purchased one month ago. I wish to use it while traveling only for email/web, Picassa to edit pics, and to view some uTube videos. I want to increase boot time and cpu performance by removing all non-essential auto-run programs. How do I do that? What can I delete/disable to accomplish a more responsive experience? Thank you.

You can check your startup programs by searching "msconfig" (without quotes) on your Windows search box. Then under the Start Up tab, you can disable the programs running on start up which makes your booting a bit faster. But the best would be to change your HDD to SSD if you really want your dm1 to work faster.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I have already ordered a 128 GB Crucial SSD to do exactly as you suggest. As for the startup and autoload programs, do you know if there are any other non-Microsoft programs that should definitely be left "on"? I don't want to cripple the DM1. Rather, I just want to relieve the cpu from unnecessary work (the gadget shows that often it is running at 100% of its capacity), Thanks for any tips you may provide.
