Win XP on Pavillion DV6-2066DX won't finish XP Install

Okay, so I have been working on getting XP on my Pavillion DV6-2066DX.  I have worked through a few tutorials:

General Downgrade Guidelines

Dual Boot Windows 7 Guidelines

Downgrade DV7 Laptop

I've gotten pretty close to making this work (I think).  I have created my installation disk using NLite.  I used the 32bit_ATI_SB7xx_RAID&AHCI_driver_v9-4_WHQL and sp43839 SATA drivers found on this thread (Click Here).  I can get the install to happen using the HAL power management option (Dual Processor selection) all the way up until I get the message 'Setup is Starting Windows'.  At that point my computer just displays the blue screen and does nothing.  I think it is because my hardware ID's are not listed in the setup and SATA drivers.  I don't know how to add those in, or that this is my actual problem.  Any help would be appreciated

Thank you for doing some readings before posting.

As posted dv7 has ACPI problem with XP and I'm assuming that would include dv6 series.

Since that thread is more than 6 months ago, lets hope HP has fixed this issue by releasing the new BIOS.

F15 BIOS has not been published in your support page, the latest available version is F13, see it here

Please dont downgrade your BIOS.

HP has released newer AMD sata driver for HP Business notebook, the modded driver can be downloaded here

(DriverVer=03/24/2010, 3.2.1548.37), your hardwareID has been included.

Start with a fresh copy XP-SP3 to your harddisk, preferable "non-Nlite" version of XP and slipstream AMD sata driver above.

Please report if you got ACPI error.

You bring up an interesting point about my BIOS level.  I too noticed that the current listed BIOS was F13.  I wonder how I ended up with F15... oh well.  You say to not downgrade it, so I won't

I will try downloading the new AMD driver and slipping it in.  Hopefully it will work

Okay, downloaded and slipped in the new AMD SATA drivers.  Incidently, they are the drivers that I started this process with, but I gave them one more shot.  Same results though: I just end up with a blue screen that says 'Setup is Starting Windows'.  So, I am not sure what to do next....

Is it possible that I should downgrade my BIOS?

Try to use other XP installer, not the current one.

No need to downgrade BIOS.

I wasn't aware that there were multiple xp installers.  How do I go about using the current one?

Officially MS release retail version of XP installer are XP, XP-SP1, XP-SP2, and lastly XP-SP3 (rare to find for retail)

Try to borrow from a friend or relative a genuine XP-SP2 installer and use Nlite to slipstream SP3 update along with the provided AMD sata driver only. No need to enter product key when asked since our propose is just to test it.

Using "unknown" release of XP installer would bring up more problems.

Okay, I'll check around.  I started out with a XP installer (not SP-1, but the original from 2001) then slipped SP-3 into it that I downloaded from Microsoft.  Maybe that's the problem...

If you are using the same XP files on the hdd for each slipstream effort ,that can cause the problem too. Try a fresh copy of the XP cd, with new slip of SP3 and the last SATA driver posted by Rakhmad.

CherylG - good point.  I have (thankfully) been repeating the slip/burn process each time.  On a good note, a coworker just informed me that he has an 'off the shelf' copy of xp so I am going to grab that and try it out.  My XP copy came from Gateway back when I purchased my desktop at the turn of the century (that sounds so old-skool!)
