Windows7 Upgrade Guide for dv6000/dv9000 models

I have a dv9000 laptop. I recently installed win 7 on this pc. all other driver installs went smoothly but the coprocesser. i have tried using both the driver the windows finds for me and the driver at the beginning of this thread. i ran them in compalability mode for vista after running them normall did not work. If i select update driver in the device manager it tells me it cannot.

here are the hardware Ids about the device.

My Pavillion 9205us came with a AMD Turion TL-50 1.6Ghz CPU. I upgraded it TL-64 2.2Ghz CPU with 2GB RAM

If I do the windows 7 upgrade can I upgrade my RAM to 4GB or 8GB?

Thanks for this guide. I have a DV6226TX laptop that falls under the DV6000 family. It had Vista pre-installed which I had downgraded to XP, 32-bit. Now, I want to upgrade to Windows-7, 64-bit.

I am following your guide & have downloaded several drivers accordingly.

I have 2 queries to begin with....

1. Wireless Drivers

You list 3 drivers: Intel, Broadcom & Atheros

Which should I install? I couldn't find any info regarding which company's Wireless adapter was inside the laptop.

2. Ethernet Driver

My current driver on XP (32-bit) is Intel PRO 1000 Network Adapter Driver

The guide asks you to install Realtek RTL8101 Lan Driver

Will Realtek work?

According to Crucial max RAM for your model is 2 GB (check it here). You may try their tester. This will give you final confirmation - Crucial Memory Advisor tool.

Ad. 1

Go to:

Control Panel -> Device Manager

Right click each device with yellow exclamation mark ( ) and choose ' Properties '. Next select ' Details ' tab and paste here Hardware Ids . This way we will know what kind of driver you need.

If there isn't any then Windows 7 for sure installed some kind of driver for it. Go to:

Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters

Your wireleess card will be listed there.

Below you've got example how to find hardware id of any device:

You've found wrong information in the guide.

Nope you've got Intel PRO 1000 Network Adapter, so please do not install Realtek driver for lan card.

Please try XP driver which you may download from here and let me know about the results. If there will be problem with it then try Compatibility Mode (Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows XP Service Pack 3).

I was actually aware of that. I thought that maybe the CPU / OS upgrade would allow for additional RAM.

Component that determines for example how much RAM you may have is chipset (which is soldered to the motherbard).

I'm having the same isues with the wireless not turning blue on my clints DV6000 DV6215 Entertainment notebook.

I replaced the motherboard a while back for the GPU coming unseated & overheating  issue with a "443775" motherboard which by the way was not the same for the system which by using the HP scanner software.

It had a 443775 DV6225US in it originally from the factory.

Has no affect on the wireless though.

It does have an outdated bios version "F24" & not the updated F43.

My client upgraded the OS to windows 7 & thats where the problem started.

HP in this forum at the top makes sense on it having the wireless assistance not being recognized in windows 7.

I see it in the start menu & try to click on it & nothing happens.

Also the wireless is not listed in the Device Manager either.

Told my client Windows Vista 32 bit would have to be reinstalled with the recovery disks before I coulld go any furthur.

It also does not show the recovery partician in the computer C:.

Thats the only thing I will problems how to reinstall the 2nd partician with the disks I hope.

Any other tips on how to would be nice so I can get it back up to it's original configuration.

I am going to go ahead & reinstall the F43 bios & see if that might make a difference.

Hi, thanks for your guide.

I have upgrade to Windows 7 my Pavilion dv 6717el using the 267.76 nVidia display driver for GeForce 8400M GS and all works fine.

Now the OS advice me to download and install the new driver from the nVidia website (version 195.62).

The nVidia website support say for the GeForce 8400M GS this new driver: Verde 296.10 Driver

What I must do?
