Windows 8 for HP Pavilion dv3-2155mx

Hello,

In 2009, I purchased a dv3-2155mx (Windows Vista Home Premium - 64 bit) in the USA, but I am from Brazil. I would like to know if I can install Windows 8 (Portuguese version) in it. I'm thinking about acquiring this new operating system, but I would like to know first if it is compatible to my notebook and everything.

Are there going to be drivers avaiable in the HP website? If not, I will buy Windows 7 instead (is there a problem if it is the Portuguese version?).

Hi, Cintia:

Windows 8 won't be released to market for many months yet.

Your PC should be able to run Windows 8, since it can run Vista.

Most of the windows 7 drivers will work on your notebook for Windows 8.

If you have made a set of recovery disks for your PC, or you have a set from HP, you can actually download and try out the Developer Preview version of Windows 8 at the link below.

Once again, you cannot uninstall this once you loaded it. You must have the installation disks to reinstall Windows Vista or you will need to purchase Windows 7 since that is the only operating system currently available for purchase.

I tested Windows 8 on my desktop since I have recovery disks for it. It seems to allow my PC to boot faster then it does with Windows 7, and has a much different welcome screen. However the rest of it seems pretty much the same as Windows 7--which is a good thing.  I like Windows 7.

OK, Paul. Thank you for your quick answer. I think I will wait the Windows 8 release. After all, my laptop is working fine, I just wanted to update it instead of purchasing a new one.
