Hi
My HP Pavilion was working fine till this morning, The problem begun when I restarted the system after a major windows update, it's started going for system startup repair loop indefinitely.
'Windows Failed to start' error while booting. 'Startup repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem' when tried to perform auto fix. I tried system recovery option also, not working.
Product: HP Pavilion DV6 Model:dv6t 1200 ; OS: Vista preinstalled and then upgraded with WIN 7, so currently using windows 7.
It will be great if anyone can help me to fix this problem. I've WIN 7 DVD and am fine with reinstalling the OS and formatting the system. Please guide me the steps needs to be followed in order to fix the issue.
Thanks

Hi,
It may be wise to first check if this is a Hardware issue as follows.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.

Hi,
Ok, try the following.
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. Once created, or if you already have this, insert the CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it. Select the Repair option.
Select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run Start-up Repair – you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.

If the above fails to help, make a note of any error messages you may get during the procedure and include them with your next post.

Hi
I've loaded the CD on the drive, i've restarted the system, it booted with CD or DVD drive; then it directly went to System recovery options for scanning the files.
i got the error message like 'Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically'. I've tried 3-4 times same result..even i tried system restore option but no luck

Hi,
Ok, using the Rescue CD again, this time select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide Here to run Windows System Restore.
Even if it doesn't resolve the issue, does the process complete?
