Product_name : HP Pavilion dv6929nr Entertainment Notebook PC
Operating system : Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 32
problem description : Issue Description: Windows didn’t start and automatic start-up repair didn’t work.
(Unfortunately I don’t have recovery disks with me)
troubleshooting : Back ground info:
There were two partitions C and D (Original setting from the factory).
My data was in driver C.
Steps Taken:
1-Tried startup auto repair but it didnt work
2-Started recovery option by pressing f11 but it started re-formating it reached 1% then i switched off the computer, considering chances of data loss as i was not sure if data is safe or not.
Please help to confirm if i recover my laptop using recovery manager by pressing F11, the laptop will be recovered to original factory settings will data be able to recover or not?

Yes it will recovered to factory installed state and erase all data only.
There is an option not to erase all, learn it here
For 1% of running system recovery, I'm not sure either it can be recovered.

At 1% most of the data is still there, but is not accessible in the normal ways.
You would need to remove the hard drive, connect it to another PC using a hard drive USB adapter, then use this software to try and recover any data that was not overwritten. It will be a fairly slow process depending on the amount of data on the drive.
