Hello Adithya,
Because it is Vista .. lol. Naw, I like Vista, but it sounds like it is just a corrupt install .. and if it is a recently purchased notebook it was probably just sitting there with the recovery finished just needing you to type in all your info, I would recommend running a full SYSTEM RECOVERY
Tap F11 directly after turning the computer on and follow the instructions,
choose NO to Microsoft RESTORE,
click Next,
Choose YES to SYSTEM RECOVERY
RECOVER WITHOUT BACKING UP FILES
Wait 30-45 mins, then click on Restart/Finish
Then your computer will work fine

Try this: Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories - then right-click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator" Once the black command prompt box opens type this command "SFC /SCANNOW" and then hit enter....let it run through and look for corrupt system files. Once it's done, type "CHKDSK /F" and hit enter, it will ask you to schedule the disk check and you will type "Y" for yes and hit enter. Then restart the notebook and let it run the chkdsk.

Replying to JayJay ...
WINDOWS EXPLORER was the thing causing the error .. NOT INTERNET EXPLORER .. which is why I mentioned a RECOVERY .. thats the only thing I have found to actually FIX that in Vista .. it was happening to me when I tryed to browse beyond the C: drive or browsing to my DVD drive (E![]()

Windows Explorer Defined :::
1. the Desktop
2. The base of where all programs are run from within a WINDOWS OS
to see that windows explorer is ... open TASK MANAGER, in the PROCESSES tab .. find and end process on EXPLORER.EXE
and what you see next you will see what WINDOWS EXPLORER is ..

*****EDIT*****
Internet Explorer is a Web Broswing PROGRAM launched from within WINDOWS EXPLORER, it is a common misunderstanding of terms ..

hey guys !
Thanks a lot for your sugggestions .
Anticlimax! I was busy for a while , so couldnt reply . The error subsided the day after i posted the message . (I hadnt done any remedy)
But , as per your suggestions
1) I had restarted IE ,

2) performed a scan and disk check . It says that few corrupt filed had been found but it wasnt able to rectify all of them . It also mentioned that , this had been recorded in the logs , but i aint able to access it .
Since the error stopped recurring , i didnt proceed to do a system recovery . Do you think i should ?
