Hi there, just got a new Pavilion Dv6-1030US and unfortunately it comes with this pathetic frankenstein called "VISTA".
So, after creating my set of rescue discs, I will proceed to repartition/format the hard drive and install 32bit Win XP Pro (yeah, I know it handles only 3.2gigs of ram, but I don't care).
But in order to do that I must get the XP drivers for the laptop first, and I cant find them anywhere!!!
So P L E A S E HP guys, I know you have an agreement with Microsoft, but can you help me on this one?
Where can I download all the drivers I need? ... I require only the link and leave the rest to me.
Thanx a lot

Sorry, but any pleas to HP will fall on deaf ears. ![]()
There are several threads here at forums, but the best imo is this on the dv5t which is little brother to your model:

Before we will start with it I've got one thing to tell You . Downgrading this model is not always easy and Your model is designed for good work under Vista. Please check first this link written by Joshua Wood and concentrate in it on problems that may appear when You will be installing sound card. I know then this is guide for dv5 but many hardware and drivers are the same for both models. It's recommended also by me to print this guide and informations about problems with sound card.
First make Vista backup. Here You've got all informations how to do it.
Update Your Bios to the latest version from here.
How to do it?
Plug You ac adapter to the computer.
Disconnect from the internet. Switch off any antivirus and firewalls.
Start updating Bios. It may take some time. Don't switch off Your laptop, don't disconnect ac and don't do anything on it when this update is running.
Now You need to slipstream Your Sata drivers (only ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.
Here is guide how to do it and here are Sata drivers for You. Just unrar this drivers with winrar.
Be sure also that You are using WinXP SP2 version. If you haven't got SP2 version here you can download this service pack
and here You have got guide how to slipstream this file with Your system again by nLite.
In this program You can even burn Your new XP cd with this driver.

Almost solved!
Installation went flawlessly, but I still got a couple question marks on the Device Manager, concerning the IDT High Definition Codec and the Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919
Also the scrolling capability of my touchpad is missing.
Otherwise the laptop works like a beauty and is bullet fast.
Any ideas?

1.For scrolling problem read this thread.
2.Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919
Install chipset drivers from guide.
3.DT High Definition Codec:
First install
MS-UAA if You have XP with SP2 (before IDT audio) here
MS-UAA if You have XP with SP3 (before IDT audio) here
then try one of this audio drivers:
IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver,
1. sp41693, vista driver, reported work in XP here
2. sp39671, vista driver, reported works in XP here or here

My version is XP x64 and the sp3 says that it's only for computers that have xp preinstalled from hp.
the only problem is the out put audio that I cannot use headset phones.
if somebody have an idea how it could be fixed, thank you in advance.

You don't need UAA_XP 64 bit has it included, unlike 32 bit which should have but often doesn't. Did you by any chance take the advice in the link I posted about backing up your SwSetup folder which has your drivers? If so try them....
If not try this:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41896
