Hi all,
This is my first ever posting in the internet. Got myself a new dv6-1161tx. I do a lot of development work and even before i bought i decided to downgrade. This is my third laptop that i am downgrading. This time i am miserably stuck and need ur help guys..
Found drivers for almost all, but for few important ones. I run xp - sp2. I have done a full format again and doing a clean install.
First installed intel chipset, then uaa(sp33867).
One unknown device which is Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919
and next is the sound. Tried installing the bundled vista driver(41678) and after restart, Audio device on HDA. gave install automatically but refused to find itself any driver. Even tried the 39671 driver. falied miserably.
From my observation, i found lpc controller doesnt stop or prevent anything from working. I think in worst case if i dont find a driver, i can live with it. But sound i definetly need one good working driver.
Others, though not extremely important, would be great if i find a good working driver for
Fingerprint - validity sensor vista driver got inlstalled but digi persona failed(yes tried bioscript, but couldn't register or use finger print)
3d drive gaurd (tried 41474 but said drive not present or supported. In my vista bundled driver i couldnt find the sp number
and that driver installed something in vista. folder name was ProtSHD)
Hp DVb-T/Analog tv tuner (hybrid tv tuner)
Alternate programs for
hp mediasmart tv - atleast this
hp mediasmart dvd
Pls help me come downgrade. I just cant use vista,
Thanks a ton in advance.
Viki

Have read XP downgrade guide, here
About the sound driver, use vista sound driver from c:\swsetup\driver\sound\
Uninstall any sound driver before trying a new one.
In your model, most of functions will work, including remote control.

Hi guru,
I have installed all drivers. Only sound is failing. Tried all the three drivers(41693, 41678 and 39671). Comes up with the same message, audio device found on HDA bus. Tried automatically and also referencing to my idt folder, but unable to install the driver.
Others ones are fingerprint and 3d drive guard.
Fingerprint - installed validity sensor driver, installs fine. Then installed bioscript. But bioscript doesnt detect fingerprint and unable to use/register fingerprint.
For 3d guard tried 41474 - said hardware not present/supported.
I have sent you the image from my device manager. Pls help me.
Thanks in advance.

As posted above, read general XP downgrade guide.
dv6 series has been downgraded by many HP owners.
Please make sure MS-UAA has been installed properly
How?
Go to Device Manager under System Devices to see if MS UAA installed properly.
There should be a listing for Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.
If not, you should have a PCI with yellow!.
Right click it and Update Driver,
No to Connect, No to Search and last Install Automatically.
About 3D driver guide, try sp34081
then about fingerprint, it is reported the vista driver works in XP,but not the software.

thanks rakhmad, did exactly as what u said. Still the same problem. I uninstalled my idt driver. restarted. In device manager under system devices, there are two listings for Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio and both are installed properly(that is no yellow). There are two yellow, one in other devices and other in sounds. listing the Audio device on HDA bus on each. Now, i install the idt driver(41693) and one yellow under sounds changes to IDT HDA codec. I restarted, and other yellow under other devices still remains, and i gave install automatically and says cannot install hardware.I hope i am following the correct flow.
Any other suggestions??
And for the 3d guard, 34081 didnt work.

If your sound is working, the other audio driver is HDMI device.
Which Video graphic are using? Intel, ATI or Nvidia?
For ATI you need to download seperately from realtek site
ATI HDMI Audio Device, here (Download the ATI HDMI Audio device driver)
For Intel and Nvidia, you need to reinstall the video graphic drivers.
Previous installation failed due to unavailable MS-UAA.
Post Hardware ID for device with yellow exclamation here, I'll try to help you.

Great rakhmad.. Mine is ati and i installed hdmi audio device. I reinstalled the audio driver after that and finally heard some sound from my lappy. Now no more exclamations
Thanks a lot dude.
I have a clarification.. I dont see any idt tray icon or any idt icons in the control panel.. Is this the default behaviour?? In my volume control, i see only 4 sliders, master, wave, swsynth and cdplayer. Wont a slider for spdif be present??
I did check the process.. both stacsv and sttray.exe seems be running..
Pls clarify..
