Hello sucre,
There is no partition that prevents you from installing XP, you need to boot to the XP disk and delete the VISTA OS and then create the "C:\" partition again and it will install with no problem ... untill you load to the desktop and you will have to get the XP drivers installed (may be troublesome to find)

does anything happen does it go to:
A black Screen,
A black screen with a Blinking "_"
Do you get an error
Do you get a BSOD
....?
try booting to the BIOS and see if there is an option for enabling/disabling SATA or RAID ... if so make sure its disabled
after that try loading the XP Disk again

Try a USB Keyboard, sometimes the notebook keyboard doesn't work properly, (I haven't had it happen personally) but if that still does not work, then try another XP install disk, if still not working set the boot options in the BIOS to boot from CD/DVD first and HDD second, then try it again .. if still having trouble with it, I would recommend what was advised in the previous Post, by Kalt, and purchase the Recovery CD from HP and then if thats no loading then it would be a faulty ODD (Optical Disk Drive) and if under warranty you will need to have it replaced or serviced by HP if not then you will need to purchase another drive....
Also maybe try an external USB disk drive (if the computer will reconize it ... you may need to set in the BIOS to boot from that USB device when connected)
*****EDIT*****
Or with a USB FLOPPY Drive on the notebook visit Microsoft and download that little executable and create installation floppys and install it that way

hi sucre,
i had the same issue before but i forgot how exactly i was able to resolved it, let me just give you some idea.. the reason why you're stuck on this message "please press any key to boot from cd" because your notebook doesn't detect the drivers for SATA.. mostold XP installation disc doesn't come preloaded with the SATA drivers.. not like with most XP with SP3 and vista SP1 installation dvd's.. you need to integrate the drivers to the XP installation disc you are about to use..
try this:
1. download the SATA driver for your notebook
2. image the XP installation to another computer
3. embede or combine the SATA driver with the image of the XP installation CD using any burning software with ISO ( this is the part i forgot)
hope this help somehow..
