why can i not use all my ram windows 7 64bit
installed 6144MB, hardware reserve 4358MB
available to use 1786

Please identify your notebook with a complete product name or product number. Post all alphanumeric characters.
As an example, my dv7-4180ea (product name) notebook is also called a XE274EA (product number)
You can find the information by removing the battery and looking for the information after the p/n and also at the bottom of the HP Support Assistant window.
Some older notebooks are only capable of utilizing 2 GB of the installed RAM. I cannot say if yours is one of them because I don't know which model notebook you own.
