I have this same exact problem on my HP Laptop. My HP Desktop is basically the same as the laptop (i.e.: Vista Home Premium, AMD processor, HP Total Care Advisor, Mcafee Total Protection 2009, etc.) and the desktop does not have this problem.
I have tryed numerous searches attempting to find a fix for this and I have come up empty handed. When I found this thread I was hopeful that I had found the fix. But all I found was a typical Technical Support useless answer.
Come on HP TECH SUPPORT. How about pulling yourselves away from your games, do your job, and find a fix for this problem??

More bells and whistles giving the customer the illusion of super support when purchasing HP. Avast AV scores very high in the last 2009 AV shootout (+99%). This program is free for all home PCs. If you want one of the lightest AV, then download the trial version of Eset's NOD.
I'd remove Total Care to free up hard drive space.

I had a battle with Mcafee yesterday, and guess what?? The little guy won!! Their lazy game playing Tech.'s tried the, "we are sorry there is nothing that can be done." BS. I would not leave the chat session until I got a supervisor. To make a long story short, the Supervisor: (1) Fixed the problem their program caused on my computers (even though there was no fix per the Tech), (2) Was thankful that I did not do as you would have done, and (3) Sent an order to the appropriate Technicians to look into the problem and to get a fix out for it.

Hey,

Is there now a solution out?

Technical support agents cannot fix this problem...It's the duty of the HP programmers/developers to fix this issue or remove the feature from the Total Care Advisor completely.
msbjorge - Being rude and degrading people is no way to go about getting an issue resolved. RoyalSerpent made a small typo, which if spellcheck is ran would not find a problem because duh "it" is actually a word spelled correctly.
