Hi:
You need to load the SATA ACHI drivers at the F6 prompt or slipstream them into a copy of your XP installation disk.
The instructions for doing this can be found at the link below:

Well,
happens the same to me. I have a full valid license to windows XP, and I bought an HP 630 Notebook since the drivers page had drivers for Windows XP. Since I already have a valid XP licence I bought a Linux version in order to save for the XP licence.
I already slipstreamed the SATA drivers, but i do not even get to the point where setup deals with available hard disks. It stops even before with a blue screen.
From a brand name like HP I expect some instruction to install Windows XP, which is still a supported OS.
Any help from forum members is appreciated as well.

Thank you for your quick answer. I am no newbie to this kind of job, being an IT professional myself.
I already tried to have the BIOS switch back to ATA emulation, but for some funny reason the BIOS (InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev 3.5, BIOS Version F.24) has no such option. It is a very poor thing with a limited set of choices available. I also tried to include the SATA drivers into a XP setup CD, which in most similar cases solves every trouble, but the poor machine keeps bluescreening during the text part of the setup process.
This is the first time I meet an XP-uncapable notebook. I am (badly) impressed by HP not implementing such an obvious option in their BIOS setup. I'm planning to send back the box for a refund.

A quick update. I tried again the slipstreaming part, after reading this:
The tricky part was running CPU-Z without a Windows OS running.
I did it via the mini-Windows feature in Hiren's boot, which i run on a USB key, where I had copied CPU-Z.
I discovered I had an HM65 chipset and downloaded the textmode drivers from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpD
The setup CD is working now and I keep my fingers crossed.

if you have a SATA Native Mode setting change it from enabled to disabled.

As already mentioned, there is no such option in the BIOS setup of this laptop.
I had to resort to slipstreaming the correct text mode drivers into a XP setup CD, then it worked.
Thank you anyway.

I did this and now I am getting this: 'The file iaStor.sys is corrupted'. My laptop is HP 630, HM55 chipset, it came with Linux and I'm trying to install Windows XP SP3. What to do?
