boot device not found 3f0

when i am start my compaq cq 56 notbook then error is

 

boot device not found

please install an operating system on your hard disk

hard disk- ( 3f0 )

f2 system diagnostics

for more information, please visit:   www.hp.com/go/techcenter/ startup

and

press f2 

system diagnostics

f1   system information <run complet>

f2   staert-up test     <run complet>

f3  run -in test       <run complet>

f4 hard disk test   <hadr disk not exist >

so, please help me

and give me your valuable advise

Sounds like the hard drive has failed, I hope you have your important files backed up somewhere else.

i was wondering if there was any way of restoring the computer to factory settings, i have run into the same problem...i do not care if my files are deleted. i just want the computer to work again.

 

 

any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try performing a System Recovery but if the system can't find the hard drive then it very likely won't work.

Try reseatting the hard drive and booting up again

I got my computer to work by taking out the hard drive and repositioning it. At first this didn't work because there was some pins that were bent wrong and I had to adjust it for it to recognize the hard drive again. After a couple of retries I finally got it to work. For this problem I suggest to look every where that is connected to the hard drive and make sure nothing is loose or broken on cables or the motherboard. Good luck !!!
