so i got this old skool laptop from my cousin and because its old i decided to install my own copy of sp3 xp pro... which i have installed on 3 others fine...

 

but this time its gone caput... i formatted both recovery partition and the normal partition... as it didnt have anything in the recovery...

 

it gives the following error when installing windows

(note i only have a illegal copy of win xp no actual cds at all....

 

first error winlogon.exe -unable to locate component...

This application has failed to start because SHELL32.dll was n ot found.Re-installing the application may fix the problem...

then it says insert the compact disk labelled windows xp service pack 3 into your cd rom drive E:...

 

then i cant do nothing

 

is there any way i can start off fresh witha new install such as linux ubuntu???? then do xp again
