How do I get the notebook to turn on is been cconfirburing 3hours w/0% done.....

Were you performing a recovery?

Read and follow the instructions on this HP web document. There are some tips regarding the issue you are having.

 

Please identify your notebook.

 

Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a printed part number and a product name. Please post one or both of them (with all alphanumeric characters here).

Yeah I was try to clean it up and get more memory. Its a dv41435-dx.
I turn it off even though its telling me not to as to take out the battery.....

So the info was helpful, its a vista not MS7 and I don't get the option of clicking start
or doing anything. It just "thinks" on screen saver then blacks out &he comes back.
