Is there a way to find out which drivers I should use for a Pavillion dv6-6c50ca notebook? For example, I have a choice of:
- Fresno Logic or Renesas USB 3.0 drivers;
- Atheros, Ralink/Motorola, or Intel Bluetooth drivers;
- Intel, or Ralink WiFi drivers;
- Intel or Realtek LAN drivers
I bought the laptop used and had to replace the hard drive. My OS is Windows7 Pro 64-bit. The product number is A7G74UA#ABC.
Thanks for your help!
Jay

Hi, Jay:
Yes there is an easy way to figure that out.
Please click on each device in the device manager that needs drivers. Then click on the details tab.
In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window.
Those will ID the type and model of these devices and I can send you the links to the drivers.

Hi Jay
Please find the Weblink to download the driver for your unit which is given below i see that the unit has come with Intel so most all Intel driver should work fine. Incase they dont work then you could try the other onces that will work on your unit.

Hi Manjunath,
Thanks for your help. I found the drivers in your link, but I'm having trouble choosing the right one where there is more than one to select from.
I'm hoping Paul's post will solve my dilemma.
Cheers,
Jay

Hi, Jay:
First install the chipset driver and reboot.
The first one is your realtek wired lan controller:
The next one is your Intel wireless 1030 card:
The USB3 controller is the Fresco one.
Last one is:

That did the trick! :-)
I forgot to ask: which Bluetooth driver should I be using? (Atheros, Intel Proset, or Ralink/Motorola) Device Manager is reporting it as a generic device. Here are the Hardware IDs:
Generic Bluetooth Adapter
USB\VID_8086&PID_0189&REV_6919
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
BTH\MS_BTHBRB
Thanks again,
Jay

You're very welcome, Jay.
You would use the Intel Bluetooth software and drivers.
Best Regards,
Paul

This worked for me too! Thank you. I did the first several steps and then got wifi going and did automatic checking for two more. Still missing the driver for USB\VID_138A&PID_0018&REV_0078

Hi, Bethsville:
That would be the fingerprint sensor that needs a driver installed.
