great confusion regarding hp upgrade

My laptop is eligible for the upgrade to windows 7 but there is a problem i have a preinstalled windows vista home premium x32 so if i upgrde it to win 7 i shall get the same version but the problem is that win 7 x32 is reported to access 3.5 gb ram at max and my laptop came with 4 gb what can i do ?

The same siuation is with Your Vista program.....

Every 32bit system can use only 3.5 GB Ram max....

It's not that big difference when You've got 4GB. So it's better to stay with 32 bit system.

How can you possibly make this statement without first asking the person a few questions?  You have no way of knowing whether it would be a big difference without asking about what software the person is using, what their goals/needs are, whether they intend to bump up their RAM in the future, etc.. If for instance, they are using Photoshop CS4 or Lightroom 2.4, squeezing that extra RAM out (more like a gig or more after hardware reserves on many machines) absolutely makes a difference in performance.  As a tester of Office 2010, I can also say that the 64 bit version Microsoft has developed is amazingly fast on a machine loaded with 4 gb of RAM and the 64 bit RC.  Every action is faster than the comparable actions in Office 2007 or Office 2003. The person cannot make an informed decision with one-line, detail-free answers....

i want to use my notebook mostly for gaming purposes when i played the couterstrike source on 64 bit os i realised that it ran slower than i used to run in 32 bit os is it due to compatibility ?

another question i want to ask is that the WIN 7 RC x32 is showing 3gb ram is useable will it be same for for final release? or i will be able to use at least 3.5 gb as said by hp advisor

Unfortunately the biggest problem is that you cannot be sure that with x64 OS you'll get more. I just tried with Windows 7 Final x64 bit on my NX9420. Guess what? Currently my XP Pro 32bit sees only 3,5GB RAM.... but Win 7 sees.... 3,5 GB available for OS and in resource manager shows that over 600MB(!!!) is hardware reserved. What the heck???
