how to gain access to recovery partition

hi, i own an hp pavillion dv6000t. my laptop runs microsoft vista. recently my explorer kept on restarting and i tried a recovery but did not work. it started to format the drive and then stopped half way in the recovery. now the recovery option from startup won't work. Any help on what to do?????????
