 having problems upgrading to windows 7, have installed win 7 have managed to install hp support assistant.

need any further advice you can supply me with to update the hp software. such as the fingerprint recognition drivers and software.  i do have them finding it hard to install.

Doesn't the windows Vista fingerprint driver work from your notebook's support and driver page?

Use the Vista card reader driver from an nc6400. The one on your notebook's support and driver page won't work the card reader in W7.

cant find notebook's support and driver page,do i have to install this.

ps; i didn't upgrade from vista it had win xp pro on it, i done a fresh install.

You're very welcome.

Many Vista drivers work in windows 7, and in the cases I provided you, you have no choice but to use them as windows 7 drivers don't exist.

This is the fingerprint driver you need to install...

hi paul thank for reply m8. yes i do understand about using vista drivers etc; if  no win 7 are available.

I have the drivers sp 39199.exe, and   sp45050, having trouble setting up after installing them. any help would be much appreciated. I have alsodownloaded and  installed card reader sp43509 , and the protect tools security manager suite sp44868 as suggested by your good self, again thank you, paul.

Hi:

I don't think you can use the sp45050 but maybe I am wrong.

In any event, I don't use any security software on my HP business laptops other than to install the driver so there are no devices showing in my device manager as needing drivers.

I know the older Vista fingerprint driver works because I used it when I updated my nc6400 to windows 7 64 bit.

How you get it to work with the security software, unfortunately, I have no experience at all.

ps :- Paul i don't know if it makes any difference, but i done a fresh install to win 7 ,

as my original hdd in my notebook ceased to work.

 It was not an upgrade as it may of been suggested earlier in this post.

I hope this has not made any difference m8.

With the Vista fingerprint driver and the protect tools software from the 6910p you should be able to get the fingerprint reader to work.

I know the Vista protect tools software from your notebook's support and driver page doesn't work.
